Track 1 Accenture and Kobenhavn Kommune
The Challenge: Circular Economy for waste management
Every year, around 100,000 large home appliances are being thrown away or replaced in the inner city of Copenhagen. However, Accenture and The City of Copenhagen (KK) have identified that only about 20% of these are being reused, repaired, and recycled.
Does the problem lie with the companies that produce the home appliances?
Is raising awareness or a change in behavior among private citizens the solution?
Or is it in fact institutional systemic change that is needed in order to increase the percentage of reused, repaired, and recycled home appliances?
To answer these questions, track 1 participants will get to interact with industry experts, collect data from various stakeholder groups, and go on a field trip to understand how the recycling centers operate.
As a reward for the group with the best solution, the three members get the opportunity to attend an exclusive three-day summer school and network event in Hamburg.
