Track 4 IBM Call for Code
The Challenge: Technology against natural disasters
Due to climate change, the frequency of natural disasters has quadrupled since 1970 and is estimated to affect around 1.7 billion people every year, leading to deaths, migration, and billions of dollars’ worth of damage.
To address this issue, IBM is launching a virtual hackathon named “Call for Code”, that invites people from all over the world to develop innovative solutions to natural disasters, more specifically, ideas that improves disaster preparedness and relief.
Although this event is open and accessible for anyone, participants in track 4 will solve this challenge with support from IBM from beginning to end.
The groups will learn how to use IBM cloud software technology, engage in design thinking, interact with field experts, and learn how to communicate and present their solutions.
As a reward for the group with the best solution, the three members will get the opportunity to travel to IBM's new IoT headquarter in Munich, Germany.
